Financial Assistance Information
All recommendations or calls for financial assistance and amenities are reviewed by the Executive Committee if it involves monetary payment. The NC State Counselor and Consultant may also be asked to advise as well as regular membership attendees involved with the meeting planning. The contribution could range from $100.00 to $200.00 depending on the time of year and type of request.

Only active members are eligible for amenities and financial assistance. An active member is anyone who participates in at least 3 of the 6 meetings during that current year (August, October, December, February, April, and June). It will include clients, family participants, as well as supporters. Exceptions can be made due to illness. Recipients can only be given financial assistance once per year.

Partial payments can be made to active members or a referral by the NC State Counselor/Consultant towards rent or utilities if the support group's payment completes the balance on the account. Payment should not exceed $400.00 during the year.​

Payments towards medication, food, and clothing should not exceed $200.00 for an active member once during the year.

Funding for higher education should not exceed $500.00 once during the year.

Contribution payments can be made to an active member for a special involvement project with Sickle Cell Disease.

Financial assistance opportunities will be sought by contacting Ms. Gladys Robinson, State Senator or Sandra Boyd, Sickle Cell Program Supervisor at NCDHS for additional resources.​
